About Your Designers
owner, lead designer
Hey there! My name is Heather and I'm the owner of Evergreen Flower Co. I'm in love with flowers. I'm married to a super nice Icelandic guy, his name is Loftur. We lived in Iceland for about a year and a half, where I developed my passion for floral design.
I'm so interested in Germanic languages, Danish furniture, Scandinavian interior design, and music. You'll usually find me listening to Daughter, Alvvays, Fleet Foxes... admiring the talents of Andrew Bird, Whitney Houston... inspired by Beyonce, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins.
My favorite artist is an Icelandic painter, Eggert Pétursson--He paints these huge pictures of detailed little flowers. The way the colors wash and blend with each other really inspires me. Otherwise, you can win over my heart with Dutch still life paintings, any art or music from the impressionism period, and landscape photography. If you've made it this far, shoot me an e-mail and we can discuss your next event--whether its your wedding, holiday, or special arrangement for your anniversary. Let's create something unique, together.
Hi! My name is Megan, and I’m EFC’s Lead Floral Designer. Like Heather, I also am obsessed with flowers. To me, each flower has its own personality. I’m intrigued by the way they each interact with each other when I’m designing. And honestly, they just smell amazing.
If I’m not making floral creations, you can find me working on a graphic design project, going on a hike, making terrible puns, or listening to my favorite bands: James Bay, Hozier, Colony House, and Johnny Swim. I’m also super interested in psychology and learning what makes people tick. (My personality type is an ISFJ in case you were wondering).
If you want to get to know more about me, or just chat about how wonderful flowers are, then I’d love to hear from you!
lead designer, studio coordinator
Hi, I’m Johni! And flowers are just okay, I guess.
When I’m not avoiding writing a quirky bio for myself, I’m designing/coordinating at EFC or trying to befriend every animal ever. I suffer from an addiction to lattes, macarons (not macaroons), and my dog Irene. I have always been very passionate about art in just about every form. I can usually be found reading, pretending to be a film critic, or creating something. I am particularly passionate about discovering interesting music, and I’m almost always trying to get Heather and Megan to listen to something “weird” in the studio.
I believe that music can be such an influential aspect of curating a moment, a mood. And this is why I love floral design. To me, floral design is arranging and conducting blooms and stems into tiny choirs. Not to be background music or white noise, but to cultivate an environment that sits in a moment, a mood. Much like discovering music that moves me and sharing it with others, I love the challenge of creating pieces that can spark interest and make the viewer stop for a moment to observe, even be inspired. Flower art is living, it is to be appreciated in the moment, and then it’s fleetingly gone. The way floral design contributes to a space, an event, and ultimately the way it makes a person feel is what lasts.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, flowers are actually the best.
